Marvin Reed is a native of Pensacola, Florida.  He did his undergraduate work at Pensacola Junior College and University of West Florida.  He has an Associate Degree in General Studies and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Organizational Communication.  Marvin is a graduate of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he received a Master of Divinity in Christian Education. 

Marvin has been working with students in some form or fashion since 1997.  He was called to Ascension Baptist in August of 2002 as the part-time Youth Minister.  As he approached graduation from the Seminary in 2004, the church extended a full-time call.  Therefore, he is currently the Associate Pastor of Ascension Baptist Church, where he oversees the youth, senior adult and family ministries. 

Marvin met his beautiful and wonderful wife, Nicole, in 2002, and they knew the Lord had a special plan for their lives.  As they followed his direction, they were engaged on February 14, 2003, and they united into the covenant of marriage in January of 2004.  In April of 2005, God brought a blessing into their family when their first child was born, Abigail Grace.  In June of 2006, the Lord added a second blessing to their family with the birth of their son, Elijah Jacob. Abigail Grace and Elijah Jacob have begun to change their lives and teach them many new, wonderful, and exciting things.

Both Marvin and Nicole have a desire to be a positive influence in the lives of people today.  They firmly believe by investing in as few as one person the world we live in can be changed.  They enjoy the opportunity to meet and fellowship with all students and senior adults who are in the ministry whether individually or corporately.  God has placed a vision on their lives to see the entire church to come together as one body.  They do not desire for youth to been seen as only as the future of the church, but also view the youth within the church as a part of the church today.  A passion of their heart is to link the generations within the church.  ONE BODY…  ONE CHURCH… ONE MISSION… Come and join in all of the fun and help them see their vision become a reality.
