Missions is the work of God through the people-the Church-by which the gospel of Jesus Christ is extended in word and deed to all the people of the world.

It is important that all people have an opportunity to radically participate in the mission of God. Therefore, at Ascension Baptist Church we encourage members to learn about missions, become involved in missions, and live a lifestyle that exemplifies missions.

One way we do this is through the organizations known as Women's Missionary Union (WMU) and Women's Ministry. Through these organizations, members learn about the work and needs of missionaries and have opportunities to participate personally in missions projects. It is possible for everyone to live out the call to love. The third Wednesday evening of each month is Missions Night.

Currently, we have two on-going mission action projects: (1) providing labeled individual servings of frozen entrees for seamen who visit the Seamen's Center in Gonzales and (2) creating "Toiletry Bags" for women who are victims of domestic violence.

Missions is the work of God through the people-the Church-by which the gospel of Jesus Christ is extended in word and deed to all the people of the world. A commitment to involvement in missions is an answer to God's call to love, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37-39
