Missions is the work of God through the people-the
Church-by which the gospel of Jesus Christ is extended
in word and deed to all the people of the world.
Our missions emphasis currently is providing financial
support to missionaries. The Lottie Moon Christmas
Offering used for missions in countries other than our
own, was a huge success. Our Georgia Barnette State
Missions Offering is designated to help missionaries and
mission ministries here in our own state of Louisiana.
The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering will lend incredible
support to the missionaries in our won country, its
territories, and Canada. Giving of our financial means
is one specific way we can spread the Gospel.
Our annual Ladies Conference will be held on April 23,
2010 at 6:00 p.m. Invite friends, neighbors, or other
loved ones to come participate in an evening of worship.
Our program will highlight a dynamic speaker Linda
Jackson and a talented chalk artist/soloist Melanie
Myers.
It is important that all people have the opportunity to
radically participate in the mission of God. Therefore,
at Ascension Baptist Church we encourage members to
learn about missions, become involved in missions, and
live a lifestyle that exemplifies missions. One way we
do this is through the organizations known as Women's
Missionary Union (WMU) and Women's Ministry. Through
these organizations, members learn about the work and
needs of missionaries and have opportunities to
participate personally in missions projects.
A commitment to involvement in missions is an answer to
God's call to love. "Love the Lord your God with all
your heart, soul and mind. This is the first and
greatest commandment. And the second is like it: love
your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:37-39
